Enjoy Rochester NY: The City
About the City of Rochester
Rochester, the Flower City of New York, lies just south of Lake Ontario. It is a diverse city, with many local attractions for the whole family:
With many professional & amateur sports teams, fans have opportunities year round to watch a game live. Rochester is home to the Red Wings (AAA baseball), the Americans (AHL hockey), the Rhinos (USL soccer), the Flash (NWSL soccer) and the Knighthawks (NLL lacrosse).
Rochester sponsors many festivals throughout the year; most notably the Lilac Festival held each May at Highland Park, and the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival, which is one of the largest Jazz fests in the nation.
Be sure to visit one (or all!) of Rochester’s museums. The Strong National Museum of Play is perfect for the young & the young at heart. With lots of interactive exhibits, a year-round butterfly house & a classic toy showcase there is lots to see at the SNMP! Rochester is also home to the Memorial Art Gallery and the Rochester Museum & Science Center, both of whom have magnificent permanent collections & rotating exhibitions.
One of Rochester’s most beautiful areas is the High Falls district. Visit this stunning location to see the Upper Falls of the Genessee River. While you’re at High Falls, stop by Genesee Brewing for a tour or tasting! Genessee Brewing has been a part of the Rochester area since it was founded in the mid 1800s.
